A video marketing tip you need to know:
Source: TubeMOGUL, Oct. 2007

- 78.5 percent of the total U.S. Internet audience viewed online video
- U.S. Internet users viewed a total of 4.5 trillion display ads during the past twelve months, with the average person viewing more than 2,000 ads per month
The numbers do not lie, video marketing does influence the purchase decision. Getting started is easy and fun to do. If you have never done a video, or feel uncomfortable getting in front of a camera…do not worry. By learning a few simple video marketing tips skill sets and obtaining a few accessories you can be on your way to video marketing success.
To prove my point, Google the keyword:
Top Tier Multilevel Marketing Company…that is my video ranked #8 on page 1 of Google
Ok, let’s get started. What you will need:
- A web high quality web cam or camera that can shoot video “I use a Logitech 3megapixel”
- Some kind of back drop
- Proper lights…and the film that covers the light
I use drop lights, the ones you see in auto repair garages, and can be purchased at any hardware store. best to get 2 for proper lightning.
My back drop is called a Shoji Screen. Here is a great link for a company that sells them
It is not really necessary to have a divider, if you decide yo use your own backdrop just make sure it is a nice part of your home or apt. Like in front of the fireplace, or on your porch.
The problem with this, is you will need a portable camera recorder, instead of a web-cam
Set up lights on each side of the camcorder if possible. If taping subjects with a wall behind, a small light between their backs and the wall will create depth between the subjects and background. This works best with stronger lights from each side and a weaker light on the floor near the wall, which helps diffuse shadows and create the feeling of space.
You need film to cover the front of your lights. This helps keep the orange color out of your image. these light films can be purchased at most office supply stores. I had to go online to purchase mine
That’s all you need to start shooting videos!
Choosing your keywords and designing your draft:
OK, now that you have your equipment, it’s time to choose a keyword. This video marketing tip is not to be taken lightly. Selecting a keyword you want to do a video around is important. Once the keyword is selected you need to prepare a small draft of what you want to talk about. Do not talk about your opportunity until the end of the video, first offer some great tips, or strategies that have worked for you. Your video must not be a sales pitch, offer something of value first.
I am not going to address keyword research on this page. You need to read my training module on keyword research.
Bullet point the key things you want to talk about, this will help keep you on track when shooting the video. Tape this draft directly in front of you, either on your monitor under your camera or on some sort of stand. You do not want to be looking away from the camera. Make sure you will have no distraction during the shoot. Turn off your cell phone, run the kids out of the room, lock the door.
Shoot the video
Just make sure you are in an area where you can stay focused for the next 4 to 6 minutes. Once everything is in place, get ready to shoot. Take a breath, gain your thoughts and shoot. Look directly at the camera, be yourself and smile. If you are doing something goofy during the first of the video, don’t worry you can edit your video later…I will show you how. Your video should be between 4 to 6 minutes long. When you start to wrap things up, mention your opportunity.
Something like:
“To learn how we drive leads and get signups in our business I invite you to follow the link at the end of this video”
Thank the person for watching your video, then stop shooting. Play your video back, be sure and have the audio on. This first time watching yourself in a video, is a little weird. But, don’t panic…it’s actually better than you realize or think. It is important to get your first video uploaded, look for anything that is very obviously wrong I.E. looking away, phone rings, etc. etc.
Edit and upload video
Don’t spend too much time trying to reshoot the video and get it just right….that will happen with experience and you get better every time you shoot one. I still have a video on Youtube my first one. I actually shoot it from inside the company van I was driving….If you compare it to my current videos it is a big difference. A little unknown video marketing tip: People watching your video appreciate the content you are offering and they will connect with you. Now, it is fun and easy for me to do a video. After your 3rd one you will be amazed at just how easy this is to do. Once the video is produced you need to do some editing.
I use the software that came with my computer it is called “Windows Movie maker”. It is easy to use and requires little video editing knowledge. You will want to add a few titles and credits to your video.
1. Start the movie maker software
2. Import your video into the program
3. Once imported, drag the video into the bottom of the program, you will see a long timeframe window.
Your video must be here in order to edit it.
4. Now look at the left hand side and you will see all kinds of options I.E. titles and credits, transitions and effects.
5. Just start playing around with it, it won’t take long and you will master the interface. What to edit?, add your name and website to the first of the video. At the end add your website again and any contact info you want.

After editing publish to your computer and your done. Set up a YouTube account if you have not already done so. When uploading your video it is important to put your website address FIRST in the description box. If you do, YouTube will create a link and whenever someone watches your video the link will be right in front of them. You will want your keyword In the title and in the first sentence of your description box as well. This is helpful when Google spiders your video for relevance to the keyword.
You want Google to index your video and get it published on page one. Do this by placing your video on bookmark sites. I use SocialMonkee, here is the link to set up your account

Now that you are armed with these new video marketing tips…go shoot your first video and HAVE SOME FUN WITH IT. Get your equipment, write your draft and watch your website traffic grow from your video marketing efforts.
